Bei seinen Projekten für China, Nepal und Mexiko hat Braunfels charakteristische Elemente der Baukultur des jeweiligen Landes zur Grundlage seiner Entwürfe gemacht. – So in Mexiko Terrassierungen, in China weit ausragende Pagodendächer und Rundbauten der Tulous, in Nepal Stupa und Lotusblüte.
In his projects in China Nepal and Mexico Braunfels has made characteristic elements of the building culture of the respective country the basis of his designs – for example terracing in Mexico, in China large cantilevered pagoda roofs
and round buildings of the Tulous, in Nepal the stupa and the lotus blossom.
